Changgyeonggung after dark: from the glowing pond to the greenhouse
Separate the reserved pond show from the general walking areas, and build a palace evening around the part you want to see.
Start your Changgyeonggung evening by choosing the area you want to visit. Water Light Yeonhwa runs October 7–November 1 around Chundangji. The timed pond presentation and the general greenhouse-and-garden route have different access arrangements.
After Honghwamun Gate, give yourself time to understand the route before heading for the pond. Agree on a meeting point if visiting with friends. With a reserved presentation, allow time for check-in and the walk to the viewing area.
At Daechundangji, projected light and music form a sequence across the water. Try watching one complete passage before reaching for the camera. Reserved sessions are listed at 19:00, 19:30 and 20:00, each lasting 16 minutes.
The smaller pond and woodland paths suit a slower pace. These general viewing areas can be explored separately from the timed presentation. Follow how the experience shifts from the water to the trees and the path; the visit becomes a walk rather than a single photograph.
The Grand Greenhouse is another destination along the route. Look around the building, then check the available interior access and walking direction. You can connect the gate, pond and greenhouse, or spend longer in just the area that interests you.
Inside the greenhouse, look at the plants alongside the architecture. Keep the passage clear when taking photographs so others can enjoy the compact space, too. Bring an extra layer for the ponds, and remember that last admission and closing time are different.
